Case study · EduQueue in production
Union City Board of Education, New Jersey
A district of roughly 11,500 students running visitor, student and volunteer flows on one platform. The facts below are the ones we are comfortable publishing today; there are no invented numbers and no invented quotes.
The district
- Where: Union City, Hudson County, New Jersey.
- Size: approximately 11,500 students.
- Footprint: multiple school buildings administered from one district account, with per-building views for front-office staff.
What runs on EduQueue
Visitors
Front-desk check-in from a driver’s-licence scan or a typed name, screening, badge print, and check-out. Appointments are visible to the desk before the visitor arrives.
Students
The student roster is synchronised from PowerSchool, so late arrivals and early dismissals are recorded against the real enrolment record rather than a re-typed name.
Volunteers
Volunteers use the same check-in path as visitors, so the building always has one list of who is inside, not three.
Evacuation report
One report, per building, of everyone currently checked in — the list a principal needs in the car park, not the one that lives on a server in the front office.
Why one platform mattered
The usual district pattern is a visitor system at the door, a separate tardy process at the attendance desk, and a volunteer clipboard somewhere in between. Each has its own list of who is in the building. Union City’s deployment collapses those onto one record per person and one report per building. When a building goes into an evacuation or a lockdown, staff open one list.
Running it district-wide also means the front-office experience is identical in every school, so a secretary covering a different building does not need to relearn the desk.
Integration notes
- PowerSchool: student data is synchronised on a schedule; the district does not maintain a second roster.
- ID scanning: visitor check-in from a driver’s-licence scan at the desk. Fields are captured from the licence rather than typed.
- Multi-building: district administrators see every building; building staff see their own.
A word from the district
What this case study is not
It is not an ROI claim. We have not published time-saved or incident-count figures, because we have not measured them in a way we would defend to an auditor. If you want to talk to the district directly, ask us for a reference and we will make the introduction rather than speak for them.
